Novak Djokovic Rome Masters 2016
Novak Djokovic is reigning champion at the Rome Masters

The final clay court tournament before the French Open, the Rome Masters is held on the outdoor clay courts of the Foro Italico in the Italian capital.

It is an ATP1000 Masters event, and World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is double reigning champion here. Top seeded at the 2015 Rome Masters, he beat second seed Roger Federer in the finals.

Djokovic has won the title on four previous occasions, in 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2015.

Roger Federer will play the tournament after having withdrawn from the Madrid Masters with a recurrent back injury. The Swiss Maestro recently moved back into 2nd in the ATP rankings after Andy Murray’s finals loss to Novak Djokovic in Madrid.
