Leander Paes and Martina Hingis beat Alexander Peya and Timea Babos 6-1,6-1 to win the mixed doubles Wimbledon title.

The Indo – Swiss pair got off to a superb start breaking their opponents’ serve in the fourth game for a 3-1 lead. Peya and Babos had no answers for superior level of play from Paes and Hingis as they went down a double break before the Swiss miss served out the first set.

Paes was having fun on centre court hitting winners at will on both sides of the court. Hingis complimented him well at the net with some fine volleying.

In one of the most one-sided mixed doubles finals in recent history, Peya and Babos were blown away by the brilliance of Paes and Hingis in just 40 minutes.

It is the 16th Grand Slam title for Paes and his second with Hingis after their triumph at the Australian Open this year.

It was double joy for Hingis at Wimbledon after winning the doubles title with another Indian Sania Mirza yesterday.
