Benjamin Bonzi is into the Marseille final.

Top seed Hurkacz will take on the unseeded Bonzi for the 2023 Open 13 Provence title in Marseille on Sunday (February 26).

The World No. 11 hasn't been at his imperious best in the ATP 250 event. After needing three sets to see off Leandro Riedi in his campaign opener, Hurkacz had to save match points against Mikael Ymer before reaching the last four.

The Pole finally lived up to his billing as the top seed, ending the inspired run of Alexander Bublik in straight sets in the semi-finals. In the process, he improved to 9-4 on the season and reached his first final in 2023.

Meanwhile, the 60th-ranked Bonzi has dropped only one set - against Maxime Cressy in the second round - in four matches this week to reach his second career singles final.

The 2023 Pune finalist is now 10-6 for the season and will return to the top 50 next week.

Hurkacz is looking for his first title of the year.

Hubert Hurkacz made a good start to the year, reaching the inaugural United Cup semifinals with Poland and making the Australian Open fourth round last month.

Following an early exit in Rotterdam last week, the 26-year-old Pole is into his seventh career final, going 5-1 in title matches. However, he will have his task cut out against home favorite Benjamin Bonzi, who is in his second title match of the year.

On paper, this is Hurkacz's match to lose, as he has a superior all-court game complemented by a powerful serve and accurate groundstrokes. However, Bonzi has been the more in-form player this week in Marseille.

Nevertheless, the Frenchman's relative inexperience could be his undoing, and he could fall short in another title match in 2023.
