Murray, Gasquet complete semifinal lineup of the Miami Masters

Andy Murray and Richard Gasquet registered clean wins over their respective opponents to book the semifinal berths in the Miami Masters. Both Murray and Gasquet won their matches in straight sets without facing much resilience.

The first match of the day was played between world number 3, Andy Murray and Marin Cilic in which the former displayed a mesmerizing performance to win the match. Murray looked comfortable in the whole match and capitalized on all weak plays of Cilic. The first set of the match was easily won by the Scot, 6-4 and the second turned out to be even better at 6-3.

Murray, who is in pursuit of his first Masters’ title since Shanghai 2011, completely outplayed the Croatian. He converted six break points to conclude the match in one hour and 42 minutes.

After the match, Murray said that it was a tough game as he had to fight for every point. He added that he was happy for not making much errors and winning the match to move ahead in the tournament.

While talking to the official tournament website Murray said, “It was a tough, tough match. The second set especially was a lot of long, long games and tough points. I just managed to come through that. Obviously, it took a while to get to the finish line, but I thought I played a solid match, [with] not too many errors and was [I] tough in the important moments.”

The final quarterfinal match of the tournament was played between Richard Gasquet and Tomas Berdych. Gasquet gave a gleaming performance to wrap up the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. In this match Gasquet broke Berdych’s serve thrice and made just 10 unforced errors to book a semifinal clash with Andy Murray.

Gasquet, who extended his head-to-head record on Berdych after the match, said that he was happy with the way match concluded. He added that it was a good and important match for him and it displayed his mental toughness.

Richard Gasquet said, “I’m really happy with the way I played. It was a good match for me. And I think I was solid mentally. I was playing very good. It’s an important match for me.”

Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer cruise to the finals

The pair of Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer moved into the finals of the final of the Miami Masters after defeating Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. It was an easy victory for the pair who completely demolished their opponents.

In another semifinal match, Frederik Nielsen and Grigor Dimitrov booked their clash with Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer. The duo defeated Haas and Malisse in an exciting three setter match. It was Nielsen/Dimitrov who won the first set 6-4, but Haas and Malisse came back strongly to win the second set 2-6. The final set of the match went down to the wire, which was eventually won by Grigor Dimitrov and Frederik Nielsen 10-7.
