Andy Roddick is delighted at the thought of watching Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and other top American female tennis players showcase their talent once the main draw of the 2023 French Open gets underway.

Looking at the roster of American women tennis players, he expressed happiness that there are quite a few of them capable of pulling their weight.

Coco Gauff played the French Open final against Iga Swiatek in 2022 and knows what to expect on the big stage. Sofia Kenin's biggest notch on the belt is her recent win over World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka.

Sloane Stephens was crowned winner at the clay courts of Saint-Malo in France. Madison Keys too is on the list thanks to her semi-final appearance at the 2018 French Open.

Roddick feels the pick of the lot is Jessica Pegula, thanks to her consistent performances in 2023. With all this talent floating around, Roddick went on to add that the women's side of the draw is going to be fun to watch.

Former World No. 1 Andy Roddick hung up his tennis shoes and picked up the microphone. He is a regular on the Tennis Channel and shares his expert analysis of tennis-related events such as the upcoming French Open.

In a candid interview with Tennis Channel, he elaborated on the chances of the American contingent at Roland Garros.

“As I was thinking through this on the American women’s side, I am going, wait a minute, we have three players who have been active, who have been in the finals of this slam with Coco Gauff, Sofia Kenin with the big win over Aryna Sabalenka, Sloane Stephens made the finals," he said.
"Madison Keys made the semi-final at Roland Garros,” Roddick said. "And all of those are not the most reliable picks that we have week-in and week-out, and that’s Jess Pegula. So American women have a fair amount of upside. It’s going to be fun to watch."

With regards to the women's half of the draw, there is plenty of quality talent from America lining up to try and lay their hands on the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup. Coco Gauff, Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys, Sofia Kenin, and Jessica Pegula have had consistent performances to boast about recently.

Should Coco Gauff reach the French Open final in 2023, she will be better equipped to handle the pressure of the big day, as it would be her second French Open final in a row.

Sofia Kenin celebrated a big win recently over Aryna Sabalenka at the recently concluded Italian Open. She prevailed in their 2nd round face-off 7-6 (4), 6-2. Kenin also managed to reach the finals at Roland Garros in 2020.

Sloane Stephens won at Saint-Malo, France beating Greet Minnen of Belgium, 6-3, 6-4 for her first title of the year. Stephens took home the US Open trophy in 2017 and was a finalist at the French Open the following year.

Madison has the experience of being a Roland Garros semi-finalist, which she lost to compatriot Sloane Stephens 4-6, 4-6. Keys also played in the semis at the 2022 Australian Open.

Lastly, Jessica Pegula's consistency has been something to note as the first half of 2023 winds down. Of the eight singles events she has participated in, Pegula reached the quarter-final stage in six of them.
