Ben Shelton capped off an incredible journey at the 2025 Canadian Open by winning his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title with a 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(3) win over Karen Khachanov in the final on Thursday, August 7. The triumph gives Shelton a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the US Open.
Shelton's victory in Toronto earned him a hefty $1,124,380 from the tournament's total prize pool of $9,193,540, while Khachanov took home $597,890. Top seed Alexander Zverev and second seed Taylor Fritz each received $332,160 after being eliminated in the semifinals.
Fourth seed Alex de Minaur, sixth seed Andrey Rublev, 18th seed Alexei Popyrin, and 26th seed Alex Michelsen each got $189,075 for reaching the quarterfinals.
In the fourth round, several big names bowed out of the tournament, including fifth seed Holger Rune, seventh seed Frances Tiafoe, eighth seed Casper Ruud, 13th seed Flavio Cobolli, 14th seed Francisco Cerundolo, 19th seed Jiri Lehecka, 20th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Learner Tien. Each left with $103,225.

16th seed Tomas Machac, 21st seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, 22nd seed Denis Shapovalov, 23rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 24th seed Tallon Griekspoor, and 31st seed Cameron Norrie were among the notable second-round exits, each bagging $35,260.
Players who exited in the first round of the main draw walked away with $$23,760. Meanwhile, those who fell in the second round of qualifying earned $21,080.
