Tennis broadcaster Geoff Chizever compared Carlos Alcaraz to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and said that the Spaniard was similar to the Swiss when it came to constructing points and playing aggressively.

Alcaraz broke out last season and produced some sensational performances that saw him become the youngest-ever World No. 1 among male players. He has already played in nine singles finals before turning 20—five more than Roger Federer and nine fewer than Rafael Nadal.

Geoff Chizever spoke about Carlos Alcaraz on Tennis Channel's Inside-In podcast and said that he will be compared to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

He also said that the World No. 2 was similar to the Swiss when it came to constructing points and playing aggressive. Chizever claimed that Alcaraz also had the intangibles that Nadal possessed.

Chizever said:

"He is always going to be compared to them no matter what. I see more Federer in how Alcaraz actually constructs points and plays aggressively, but Nadal has the intangibles that clearly Carlos has as well, which is exciting to say."

He added:

"The fact that we're gonna start to see Alcaraz mix it up with, obviously Djokovic, hopefully Nadal can come back, is exciting. It's weird to think though that if Alcaraz wins this week, he is going to have the exact same number of points as Djokovic."

Carlos Alcaraz missed the first month of the 2023 season due to an injury he suffered while training. However, the Spaniard has started the season well and is yet to lose a match.

The Argentina Open in Buenos Aires was Alcaraz's first tournament in 2023, and he started with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Laslo Djere. The World No. 2 then triumphed 6-4, 6-2 over Dusan Lajovic before defeating Bernabe Zapata Miralles to seal his place in the final. Here, he beat Cameron Norrie 6-3, 7-5 to win the Argentina Open.

Alcaraz then competed at the Rio Open as the defending champion and beat Brazil's Mateus Alves 6-4, 6-4. He then came back from a set down to triumph 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4 over Fabio Fognini to reach the quarterfinals. Here, the teenager beat Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 7-6(0) to book his place in the semifinals.

Carlos Alcaraz will take on Chile's Nicolas Jarry in the final four, and the winner of the match will face either Cameron Norrie or Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the final.
