Carlos Alcaraz has given a confident update on his fitness ahead of the 2025 French Open final, set for Sunday, June 8. The defending champion is chasing his second title at Roland Garros and fifth Grand Slam overall, and he made it clear he’s feeling ready for the challenge.
Alcaraz started his run with a solid win over Giulio Zeppieri and followed it up with commanding performances against Fabian Marozsan, Damir Dzumhur, Ben Shelton, and Tommy Paul. In the semifinals, he faced Lorenzo Musetti, who was riding high after impressive wins over Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and others, but ultimately fell short against the Spaniard.
Alcaraz later gave an on-court interview where he opened up about his current fitness and shared his thoughts on reaching the French Open final for the second year in a row. He said:
"Well, right now I am just feeling great, feeling really, really good. Obviously, it's been three intense weeks, but I am just one step to make. I am feeling great. I am feeling I am playing great tennis, and I am feeling a lot confident right now."
"I am just gonna give everything on Sunday as I said. I have been doing great things in this tournament, and right now it's time to give my 100% and go for the final on Sunday," he added.
The match began with Lorenzo Musetti taking the first set quite comfortably, but momentum quickly shifted in Carlos Alcaraz’s favor.
The Spaniard fought back to win the second and third sets, and had already built a lead in the fourth when Musetti began struggling physically. The Italian was forced to retire due to a thigh issue, handing his opponent the win with the score at 6-4, 6-7(3), 0-6, 0-2.
Carlos Alcaraz will take on either Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic in French Open 2025 final

Carlos Alcaraz faces a tough challenge in the 2025 French Open final as he aims to defend his title. He will be up against either his fierce rival, Jannik Sinner, or the experienced Novak Djokovic, both of whom are among the toughest opponents he could face in the tournament.
After his win over Musetti, Alcaraz shared in his on-court interview that he’s excited to watch the Sinner vs Djokovic match. He said it promises to be a “great” battle, and he’s ready to enjoy it as a true tennis fan.
"Of course I'll watch it, I’m not gonna miss it. It's one of the best matches we can have in tennis at the moment… I'm gonna watch and enjoy. I’m a big tennis fan… it’ll be a great match," the Spaniard said.
If Alcaraz faces Sinner, it will mark their 12th meeting on the ATP Tour and their first-ever clash in a Grand Slam final. On the other hand, if he meets Djokovic, it will be their ninth encounter and the second time they face off in a Major final.
