Daniil Medvedev, who is currently in France at renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou's academy, hit the practice nets in a video released online.

In the video, Medvedev is seen swinging his racquet as he gears up for his upcoming tournaments. The 26-year-old later reshared the video and made a pun about "sliding into the weekend."

"Sliding into the weekend at the @MouratoglouAcad," he captioned his tweet.

The Russian kicked off his 2023 season with a semifinal loss against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic at the Adelaide International 1. However, he failed to replicate his form at the Australian Open 2023.

The Russian came close to winning the second Grand Slam of his career last year in Melbourne. Despite losing the first two sets to Medvedev, Rafael Nadal made one of the best comebacks of his career to overturn the two-set deficit and eventually win his second Australian Open title.

This year, the Russian comfortably beat Marcos Giron and John Millman to set up a clash with American Sebastian Korda. Up against the son of a former Australian Open winner, Medvedev lost in straight sets, which eventually led to him falling out of the top-10 of the ATP singles rankings.

However, he recently received words of praise form an important person. Mouratoglou stated that Medvedev's Grand Slam win came at a very difficult time. It was an era where the all-time greats, Djokovic and Nadal, were still increasing their Grand Slam tally without any mercy.

"It is the hardest time to win a Grand Slam but @DaniilMedwed has won one," Mouratoglou wrote on Twitter.

Mouratoglou has coached a number of high-profile players during his coaching career, including Grand Slam winners Serena Williams and Simona Halep.

Medvedev had beaten 22-time Grand Slam singles winner Djokovic in the final of the 2021 US Open to win his maiden Grand Slam singles title.
