Carlos Alcaraz's post-US Open schedule looks likely to be a hectic one. The Spaniard is currently participating in the group stages of the Davis Cup Finals, and is then set to appear at the 2024 Laver Cup followed by multiple exhibition events. Fans have criticized the Spaniard and his team over this scheduling in light of his shock US Open exit, which he attributed to mental and physical fatigue.

Alcaraz came into the US Open Series after the Paris Olympics, where he competed in both singles and doubles. The 21-year-old won silver in singles while exiting the quarterfinals in doubles, where he partnered Rafael Nadal.

After the Olympics came to its conclusion, Carlos Alcaraz decided to skip the National Bank Open in Montreal, but returned to action at the Cincinnati Open. However, the Spaniard was shockingly ousted by veteran Gael Monfils in the second round at the ATP Masters 1000 event. At one point during the match, a frustrated Alcaraz violently smashed his racket multiple times.

At the 2024 US Open, the 21-year-old started his campaign unconvincingly, needing four sets to get past Li Tu in the first round. An uncharacteristically dismal performance followed from the Spaniard in the second round, as Botic van de Zandschulp emerged the shock victor. Later, at a press conference, the Spaniard confessed that he was mentally and physically exhausted.

However, despite the confession, Carlos Alcaraz is now featuring for Spain in the Davis Cup group stages and will soon be turning his attention to the 2024 Laver Cup.

The Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia, a high-profile exhibition event, is set to follow. Then, he should appear for Spain again in the Davis Cup Finals, provided the Spanish contingent qualifies. Two more exhibition events in New York and Charlotte are lined up as well.

Furthermore, Carlos Alcaraz is also expected to feature at prestigious Masters 1000 events in Paris and Shanghai, and the year-end Nitto ATP Finals, before the season ends. This scheduling has led to several fans on X (formerly Twitter) questioning the Spaniard citing fatigue after his early exit from the US Open.

"He (Alcaraz) suggested mental and physical fatigue after a long summer btw, shameful from the team," a fan wrote after listing some of the events Alcaraz is set to appear at.
"Lol he deserves to burn out. Asinine scheduling," commented another fan.
"He will end up like Nadal....Where is his brain?" one fan asked, citing the example of Rafael Nadal, who has struggled with injuries throughout his long and illustrious career.

Another set of fans opined that Carlos Alcaraz was prioritizing money over his physical and mental well-being.

"Alcaraz milking it to the max…. Is he charging again a fan $250k for an hour of training ??? If any tennis player dares to complain about their long schedule I’ll start to vomit literally," wrote a fan.
"Davis Cup group phase, Laver Cup, Six Kings Slam and now this. It feels a bit like Alcaraz is giving priority to money over his ATP ranking," another added.
"He’s a commodity that’s sold to the highest bidder. He has to agree to these tournaments so I really don’t want to hear him whine about how tough the season is and how he doesn’t get any time off. He values $$$ over his health IMO," yet another chimed in.

Carlos Alcaraz started his campaign at the Davis Cup finals with a walkover win over Tomas Machac.

Carlos Alcaraz faced Tomas Machac during the Spain-Czech Republic tie at the Davis Cup finals. The Spaniard lost the first set 6-7(3) but bounced back to take the second set 6-1 and force the match into a decider.

Unfortunately, cramps struck Machac soon, and the Czech decided to retire in the first game of the third set. Later, Alcaraz reflected on his up-and-down performance against Machac up until the Czech's mid-match retirement.

"I think after a really difficult and tough first set, I knew that I had to stay tough, stay positive and play long rallies," Alcaraz said.

Carlos Alcaraz has won two Grand Slam titles this year (French Open and Wimbledon Championships) and an ATP Masters 1000 title at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

In terms of his scheduling, even Serena Williams' ex-coach Patrick Mouratoglou recently urged the Spaniard to manage his emotions and schedule better going forward.
