US Open champion Emma Raducanu will play her third-round match at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells against World No. 79 Petra Martic on Sunday. Seeded 11th in the WTA 1000 event, the Brit needed three sets to fend off the dangerous Caroline Garcia 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 on Friday.

The 19-year-old served four aces and converted six out of eight break points to secure the win.

Raducanu will now aim to beat Martic and enter the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open for the first time in her career.

Who is Emma Raducanu playing against?

Raducanu will take on veteran Croat Petra Martic in the third round. The 31-year-old has one WTA title to her name and a career-high ranking of 14. Currently ranked 79th, Martic has had a disappointing season so far, winning just a couple of matches in four tournaments heading into Indian Wells.

The Croat, however, seems to have found her rhythm in the Californian desert, notching up consecutive wins in a tournament for the first time this year.

In the first round, she defeated Anna Bondar 7-5, 6-3. Martic then went on to upset 19th seed Tamara Zidansek 7-5, 7-6(6) to book her place in the third round.

Sunday's meeting between Martic and Raducanu will be their first-ever clash on the tour.
