Former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard recently reacted to Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev's embarrassing meeting with One Direction-member Louis Tomlinson.

Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev were in Mexico for an exhibition match. Surprisingly, the two tennis stars were staying at the same hotel as the famous singer. The duo met the talented musician before their highly anticipated exhibition encounter, and exchanged handshakes while also posing for photos.

Speaking about the meeting in an interview with the ATP Tour, Andrey Rublev revealed that the situation was so "embarrassing," as Medvedev had no idea who Louis Tomlinson was and Tomlinson had no idea who they were.

"It was a bit embarrassing, but it was still okay. In Daniil’s situation, it was embarassing-embarassing because first of all the guy had no idea who we are and Daniil had no idea who he is. Me at least, I knew who he is, but Daniil had no idea," Rublev said.

In light of this, Eugenie Bouchard used her Instagram stories to react to the situation, writing:

"Crying."

Meanwhile, Wimbledon has decided to lift the ban on Russian and Belarusian players imposed in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year. Following this decision, the All England Club has stated that players from the aforementioned two countries will be permitted to play under a neutral flag and are prohibited from expressing any form of support for the war in Ukraine.

Russian Daniil Medvedev, who was unable to compete in the 2022 Wimbledon Championships due to the ban, expressed his delight at the news during his latest press conference at the 2023 Miami Open, saying:

"Yeah, the thing is that when you read media, you know kind of, I already saw one week ago that it might be happening but still not official so you never know. So today I guess it's official. So I'm really happy."

The former World No. 1 then stated that he would be happy to play in the grass-court Major, while admitting that he was unsure of how the crowd would react.

"I don't have any Russian sponsors, and yeah, I'm gonna play there like we played all the last year every other tournament, to be honest. Yeah, again, I'm gonna be happy to be there," Medvedev said.
"I don't know what the crowd reaction is going to be, I cannot control it, but I will be happy to play there in front of all the people. Hopefully on big courts. Hopefully have some big, amazing matches," he added.

Daniil Medvedev has reached the final of the Miami Open, where he will lock horns with Italian Jannik Sinner on Sunday (April 2).
