Holger Rune opened up about his musical tastes

Holger Rune, who has been on song lately, gave his fans a brief insight into the kind of music he prefers listening to.

The Dane, who lost a five-set thriller to Andrey Rublev in the fourth round of the Australian Open last month, is currently playing the Open Sud de France in Montpellier, where he has progressed to the second round.

In an interview, Rune opened up about the various songs he is currently listening to as well as the tracks he used to love as a child, while also getting candid about his guilty pleasure and the kind of music he indulges in while at home.

"Right now, my favorite song and the one that I use before matches a lot is Till I Collapse by Eminem," Rune revealed in a video shared by Eurosport.

Turning the clock back to his childhood years, the teenager recalled that he loved listening to Wham's Last Christmas, especially during the winters.

"Probably a Christmas song, like Last Christmas, you know. I remember when I used to go for tournaments when I was a kid in the winter cold, sitting in the car and listening to this song. It was quite cozy," he stated.

The World No. 9 named Macklemore's Can't Hold Us as the song he loves singing the most, stating that it was a fun song to sing despite being tough to get right.

"I like Can't Hold Us by Macklemore. It's so fast and I try to sing it but it's tough and I have quite a lot of fun trying to do it. I am not going to do it right now," he said, with a chuckle.

When asked about his guilty pleasure song, Holger Rune mentioned Coldplay's Hymn For The Weekend, pointing out that it helps him "dream about the good moments." The 19-year-old also named Twerk It Like Miley as the song he enjoys listening to when at home.

Holger Rune defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland 7-6 (5), 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Open Sud de France in Montpeiller.

The teenager, who lost to the Swiss in Bastad and Sofia last year, registered his first win against Huesler at the Sud de France Arena. The top seed will take on Gregoire Barrere of France in the quarterfinals.

An unlucky net-cord which went his opponent's way forced Rune to bow out of the Australian Open after a grueling five-set duel against Russia's Andrey Rublev.

Holger Rune has entered the 2023 in confident fashion after winning the biggest title of his career at the end of last year — the Paris Masters. He defeated four top-10 players, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime, to reach the final of the Masters 1000 tournament, where he then stunned Novak Djokovic to clinch the title and break into the ATP Top-10.
