Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula celebrated Gauff's correct prediction for the winner of the Oscars Best Picture award.

On March 12, tennis players competing at the 2023 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells submitted their predictions for the Oscars Best Picture award winner. Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Aryna Sabalenka predicted 'Avatar: The Way of Water' to take home the top prize. Whereas, Jessica Pegula, Iga Swiatek, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud and Ons Jabeur all predicted 'Top Gun: Maverick' as the winner.

Coco Gauff was the only outlier in the video as she veered away from popular opinion and chose 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' as her pick to win the award for Best Picture at the 2023 Oscars.

"I feel like it's not going to be Avatar. I feel like 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' is going to win," Gauff predicted.

With 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' taking home the top prize, Coco Gauff celebrated her prediction coming true on social media.

"I guessed the oscar’s best picture winner when everyone said Top Gun would win @Tennis has the proof! I’ll tell you a joke but I‘ll never tell you a lie," Gauff posted.

Jessica Pegula affirmed Gauff's statement.

"Truth," Pegula chimed in.

Jessica Pegula recently praised doubles partner Coco Gauff for her fun personality as well as her ability to balance tennis with her familial obligations.

Gauff returned the compliments in her post-match press conference following her straight sets victory over Linda Noskova. She stated that she considers Jessica Pegula her on-tour older sister who is always positive and supportive on the court, encouraging her to go for her shots and play her best. Off the court, the World No. 6 values her doubles partner as a friend and enjoys spending time with her.

"In a way, like, she does, in a way, she's like my on-tour older sister in a way. Playing with her on the court, she's always positive and, you know, telling me, You know, you're good, go for your shots, keep doing that. Off the court, yeah, I really look to her as a friend and someone that I enjoy spending time with," Gauff said.

The 19-year-old expressed her happiness at learning the positive things Pegula had to say about her as she reciprocated them in kind.

"Yeah, and I'm glad that she said some great things about me, because I definitely feel the same way about her," she added.

Coco Gauff will take on Rebecca Peterson in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open.
