Madison Keys believes Christopher Eubanks is universally admired, with the American going as far as to assert that she does not think a single person would have a negative opinion about him.

Eubanks is currently enjoying a remarkable season. Earlier this year, he reached his first-ever Masters 1000 quarterfinals in Miami and subsequently secured a spot in the ATP top 100.

During the grass court season, the 27-year old emerged victorious at the Mallorca Open, clinching his first ATP title. He also made an impressive debut at Wimbledon, reaching the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the very first time. He now holds the 30th position in the world rankings.

Christopher Eubanks' compatriot and friend, Madison Keys, had some kind words to share about him in a recent interview. She expressed that Eubanks is a genuinely nice person and revealed that she affectionately refers to him as 'the Mayor.'

“I think Chris is just a really nice guy. I sometimes like to call him the mayor,” Keys said in an interview with ATPTour.com.

Keys highlighted Eubanks' exceptional ability to connect with people, emphasizing that he is a "really easy, lovable guy." She also stated that his amiable nature is evident, as it is unlikely that anyone could find fault with him.

“He talks to everyone and he knows everyone and he's just a really easy, lovable guy. And I think that shows because I don't think you could find anyone that would have anything bad to say [about him],” Madison Keys added.

Twenty eighth seed Christopher Eubanks will square off against Soon-woo Kwon in the first round (Round of 128) of the 2023 US Open on Monday, August 28.

Eubanks will be entering the US Open following disappointing performances at the Canada Open and the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. In Toronto, the American suffered an early exit after being defeated by Gael Monfils in his opening match. Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, he faced a tough challenge from compatriot Ben Shelton, who managed to outlast him in the first round 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Last year at the American Slam, Christopher Eubanks defeated Pedro Martinez in the first round, having entered the Major as a qualifier.

On the other hand, Soon-woo Kwon is set to make his comeback to competitive tennis in New York following a five-month hiatus. His absence from the main tour was the result of a debilitating shoulder injury.

The South Korean made a promising start to the season, securing 10 victories out of 16 matches and having a title-winning run at the Adelaide International 2. He also advanced to the second round at the Qatar Open.

The head-to-head record between Christopher Eubanks and Soon-woo Kwon stands at 1-1. In their most recent clash at the 2023 Australian Open, the American emerged victorious over the South Korean.
