Serena Williams recently admitted that she was left wanting for more after watching Zendaya's 'Challengers'. The American revealed that she asked the actress if there was more to the film after being baffled by the cliffhanger ending.

Ahead of the release of her new eight-part documentary “In the Arena: Serena Williams”, the 23-time Major champion sat down for an interview with the New York Times where she was asked if she had watched Zendaya's 'Challengers'. The tennis-centric romantic comedy was a box-office success and garnered a lot of attention from the tennis fraternity.

Williams said that she did watch the film but admitted that she was baffled by its cliffhanger ending and even asked Zendaya if there was more to the film. The 42-year-old said that she was left wanting more by the ending.

"Yes, I did see 'Challengers'," [Laughs] Williams said.
"I thought it was good! I wanted there to be more of an ending. I told Zendaya: 'Listen, is there more? Like, I want more. Did they win?' I mean, I don’t want to give away the ending."

The movie ends with a furious rally between the two male leads, Art and Patrick. Art jumps to hit a volley and as he smashes it, he falls over to Patrick's side and the two men share an embrace. Tashi (Zendaya) jumps out of her seat in excitement and the film ends. It doesn't answer the question - who won the match?

"Sometimes you can become really connected to whoever you're with,... I was codependent with Venus Williams" - Serena Williams

Continuing her thoughts on 'Challengers', Serena Williams explained how the aspect of codependency among tennis players was accurately shown in the film. She admitted that she was codependent with her sister Venus Williams and felt that the film did a good job of portraying aspects of tennis that weren't really talked much about.

"I thought it was pretty accurate. Sometimes you can become really connected to whoever you’re with, or 'codependent' is a better word. I feel like I was codependent with Venus. So I actually felt like there was so much accuracy in there about things that we don’t think about as tennis players or even talk about as tennis players."

Williams said that she enjoyed the film.

"There’s definitely a lot of codepending. You can also be a loner in tennis, so I don’t know. Listen, I liked the movie. That’s all I can say."

Serena Williams' documentary series is set to release its first episode on July 10. Each episode will delve into important moments from the American legend's personal and professional life.
