Emma Raducanu recently hit the practice courts during pre-season training for the upcoming 2025 season. The 22-year-old finished her 2024 season after representing Great Britain at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
In 2023, Raducanu had three surgeries - one on her right ankle and two on her wrists - which kept her sidelined for most of the year. She made a return to court this year, at the 2024 ASB Classic, where she lost to eventual runner-up Elina Svitolina in the second round.
The Brit also competed in three out of the four Grand Slam tournaments, only opting to withdraw from the French Open to focus on the grass season. Emma Raducanu reached the second round at the Australian Open before losing to Wang Yafan. At Wimbledon she lost in the fourth round to Lulu Sun, before suffering a first-round defeat to Sofia Kenin at the US Open.
The former World No. 10's best result of the season came at the 2024 Rothesay Open, where she reached the semifinals before falling to eventual champion Katie Boulter. She also had quarterfinals runs at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Rothesay International in Eastbourne, and the Citi Open.
Emma Raducanu recently took to social media to share a series of pictures of herself training on the practice courts ahead of the 2025 season.
“On loop 🐝 🖤 🌚 🔁 ," Raducanu captioned her Instagram post.
Emma Raducanu on her off-season: “I'm excited & just itchy to get on the practice court”
While speaking to the press during the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals, Emma Raducanu talked about the off-season and how she prefers to utilize it. The 22-year-old said that after a long playing season, while other players might want to take a few weeks off, she itches to get back on the court to practice and prepare for the upcoming season.
“I think traditionally you'd probably have a bit of a break and take a holiday or something. But I feel like I have had four, five weeks off tennis, and I don't really need any more time off. If anything, I'm excited and just itchy to get on the practice court,” Raducanu said [via WTA Tennis].
Emma Raducanu last competed at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga, where she helped Great Britain reach the semifinals following wins over Germany and defending champions Canada. The Brit won her singles fixtures against Jule Niemeier (6-4, 6-4) and Rebecca Marino (6-0, 7-5).
Great Britain's run at the Billie Jean King Cup came to an end after they lost 1-2 to eventual runners-up Slovakia in the semifinals. Raducanu salvaged her team's only win after defeating Viktoria Hruncakova 6-4, 6-4 in the opening match of the tie.
