Jack Draper throwing up and Jannik Sinner injuring his wrist during their high-octane semifinals at the 2024 US Open has sparked discussion among tennis fans. The Italian defeated the Brit 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-2 in a brutal three hours and three minutes to reach the final at Flushing Meadows for the first time in his career.
Draper, seeded 25th, was in phenomenal form at the New York Major and ousted the likes of Zhang Zhizhen, Facundo Diaz Acosta, Botic Van de Zandsculp, Tomas Machac, and Alex de Minaur to reach his maiden Grand Slam semifinal. He didn't drop a single set up to this point.
Sinner, on the other hand, had impressively defeated Mackenzie McDonald, Alex Michelsen, Christopher O'Connell, 14th seed Tommy Paul, and fifth seed Daniil Medvedev. With this campaign, he joined the list of players to have reached the semifinals of every single Major.
The two engaged in a highly physical match, which was won by the top seed in straight sets. However, during the second set, there was a point where the Brit threw up all of a sudden. He threw up multiple times. Jannik Sinner, meanwhile, during a point in the second set, slipped and fell on his left wrist. Though the Italian won the point, he was seen in pain and both players took medical time-outs.
However, they came back onto the court and completed the match.
Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to their issues. One of the fans highlighted both players' issues and said the situation was absolute chaos.
"Jack Draper's vomiting. Jannik Sinner's broken his wrist. Absolute chaos," the fan commented.
Another fan joked that ack Draper was showing his British side by throwing up in public yet downing drinks right after.

During his on-court interview, Jannik Sinner gave a nod to his friendship with Jack Draper and later on mentioned that their encounter was a highly physical one.
He said that though the Brit was tough to beat, he tried to stay in the match mentally. The Italian said that he was happy to be in the final of the 2024 US Open.
“First of all, me and Jack know each other well. We are good friends. It was a physical match. I just tried to stay there mentally. He’s so tough to beat. It’s a special occasion. Thanks everyone for coming to support us. It was amazing. Just happy to be in the final here,” Sinner said.
Jannik Sinner will face the winner of the semifinals between 12th seed Taylor Fritz and 20th Frances Tiafoe on September 8.
