Former British No. 1 Laura Robson weighed in on Jannik Sinner in the aftermath of the Italian's remarkable performance at the recently concluded Miami Open.

Sinner has one title in 2023 (in Montpellier) so far and two runner-up finishes, the first at the ATP 500 in Rotterdam in February and the most recent at the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami.

Following this, Laura Robson told Eurosport that Jannik Sinner is on the verge of greatness, owing to his "unbelievable" wins at the Miami Open, and added that he is also "one of the most talented players" on the ATP Tour right now.

"You look at the matches that he played [in Miami], he had some unbelievable wins, which for him is just a step in the right direction," Robson said.
"You feel like it's just going to be a matter of time before he wins one of those big ones or he gets that huge result in a slam that he's been looking for because he's one of the most talented players out there," she added.

The British player continued by saying that she had never heard a ball strike from the side of the court with such precision. She quickly noted that the Italian player's draws have not yet been favorable so far, the only reason he hasn't scored a big title already.

"I have never heard a cleaner ball strike from the side of the court than what I hear from his game. It's inevitable really. It feels like he's right there, but the draw gods haven't aligned for him yet," Robson said.

Jannik Sinner was having the time of his life at the 2023 Miami Open, having advanced to the final after defeating Laslo Djere, Grigor Dimitrov, Andrey Rublev, Emil Ruusuvuori, and former World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.

However, the Italian's title-winning hopes were dashed when he was defeated by 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev. The Russian beat the 21-year-old 7-5, 6-3 to improve to 6-0 in their career meeting.

Following his defeat, Jannik Sinner took to Twitter to express his pride in what he had accomplished over the previous month and to express his excitement for the claycourt season to begin.

"Leaving Miami tonight feeling proud of what we achieved over the past month. It wasn’t meant to be yesterday, but always improving and getting better. Now it’s a few days off before the clay court season," Sinner wrote.
