Iga Swiatek couldn’t capitalize on her semifinal clash with Aryna Sabalenka at the 2025 French Open, ending her bid for a fourth straight title at Roland Garros. The loss has left many of her fans concerned about her current form and what it means for the rest of her season.

It was a tough loss for Swiatek, who came into the tournament as one of the favorites to win, despite a shaky start to the season. Falling to Sabalenka was hard enough, but being bageled in the final set made the defeat even more surprising. The 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-0 scoreline was something few saw coming.

The defeat also snapped the Pole's impressive 26-match winning streak in Paris, which was the joint-longest at a women’s Grand Slam in this century. Following the loss, fans flooded X (formerly Twitter) with reactions, with one writing:

“This season just a season to forget and learn for Iga. Absolutely shocking in terms of confidence, like she doesn’t know how to hit the ball, she played like a rookie since her lost at Olympics.”

“Safe to say the Swiatek era is officially over! We’ll never know if her dominance was actually fuelled by PEDs🤯 Just Saying,” another wrote.

One account added:

“So Iga has officially gone one year without a final or a title. And now she's currently the defending champion of no titles. Damn. Unbelievable. I don't know if this means pressure will be off her back and she will rise again or this smells more danger since clay season is over.”

“I accept that Iga’s days as an elite player are over and the game has moved on from her if she stays as she is. She’s stubborn to change her style but there’s chance she will and can get back to the top. And less said about mental coaching the better,” one account wrote.

“I’m actually in shock like idk how to process this... a bagel on PC,” another posted.

"At this level, when you play against the top players, you’re gonna feel the difference," Swiatek said. "She came on pretty strongly in the 3rd set and just went for it. Then the set went pretty quickly. I think I didn’t have much time to reset that again like I did at the start of the 2nd set."

She added:

"I came back from like 3-0 in the first. Doing that a 2nd time would be hard, for sure. But she played like she didn’t doubt. She just went for it. That’s what I mean about intensity.”

The Pole will now turn her attention to the grasscourt season, with Wimbledon set to begin on June 30.
