Serena Williams' former coach Rennae Stubbs called attention to former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball star Caitlin Clark's support of Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris for the Presidential spot. Earlier, Swift penned a long note on social media, stating the reason behind choosing Harris over Donald Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump faced off in the first presidential debate of the 2024 election. Eight weeks until Election Day, global pop icon Taylor Swift rooted for Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, as evident in her Instagram post.
Stubbs highlighted Indiana Fever and former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball standout, Caitlin Clark's (widely considered the greatest collegiate player in history) support of the post. She took a screenshot and announced that Harris won Iowa, circling the basketball champ's name.
"Looks like Kamala just won Iowa," she wrote in her X.
Swift penned a long note in her Instagram post, backing her decision with reasonable explanations and calling Harris a 'gifted leader'.
"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos," the caption read.
Swift also appreciated the current Vice President's decision to choose Tim Walz, who has been a strong voice for LGBTQA+ rights and women's body positivity for years.
"I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades," Swift's caption further read.
Former tennis icon Martina Navratilova's take on Taylor Swift's vote
Navratilova, an activist since retiring from tennis, also shared Taylor Swift's screenshot on her X, amused to see how the pop singer lashed out at Trump.
"Yippee:), Taylor just made Donold’s awful night even worse:)" Navratilova wrote.
Kamala Harris' campaign proposed a second meet-up of the nominees before the Election Day in November. After the first debate on Tuesday, the campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon announced a possibility and need for a second sitting in October.
