Ana Ivanovic and Angelique Kerber recently caught up. As they sat down, Ivanovic used the opportunity to share with her fans about their friendship and the healing effects of talking to friends in general.

Ivanovic was World No.1 for 12 weeks when she was active on the WTA Tour. She retired after a 13-year career that saw her win 15 singles titles, including the French Open in 2008, the Canadian Open in 2006, the Madrid Open in 2007, and the Indian Wells Open in 2008. She cited injuries as one of the major reasons for retiring in 2016 at 29. The Serbian said she could no longer cope with the high demands of the top level.

On the other hand, Angelique Kerber is still active on tour and has won 14 singles titles, including three Grand Slams. Although Kerber has not won a WTA 1000 tournament, she has reached five finals. The 36-year-old temporarily retired in 2022 due to pregnancy before making her comeback at the 2024 United Cup where she helped her country Germany clinch the title.

On Monday, Ivanovic shared a heartfelt video on her social media account X (formerly Twitter), featuring her and Kerber sitting down for a chat by the sea. In the caption, Ivanovic talked about the healing power of talking to friends and the true value of friendship.

“Sometimes a talk with friends can have some healing effect - opening yourself up and letting others open up is the true power of friendship,” Ivanovic wrote.

In April 2024, Ana Ivanovic and Angelique Kerber reunited for a magazine photoshoot. The Serb posted a video on her Instagram handle, capturing their joyful smiles as the camera clicked away. During the shoot, Kerber donned a brown V-neckline dress with a tie closure at the waist, while Ivanovic opted for floral palazzo trousers and a purple sweatshirt.

"Its 'bring a friend to work'- day." Ivanovic joked

A day later, Ivanovic posted the results of the photo shoot, which featured the two tennis stars on the cover page of Freundin magazine.

Before Ivanovic retired, they faced each other seven times on the WTA Tour and Ivanovic won five of those encounters.

Kerber's most recent tournament was the 2024 Italian Open, where she defeated Lauren Davis, Veronika Kudermetova, and Aliaksandra Sasnovich before getting eliminated by the eventual winner Iga Swiatek in the fourth round.
