Stefanos Tsitsipas joked about moving to Sweden ahead of being 'adopted' by his Team Europe coach Bjorn Borg during the 2024 Laver Cup. The Greek opened up the scoring for Team Europe and restored parity by decimating Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second match of the opening day.

Borg, who has captained Team Europe since the inaugural edition of the three-day exhibition event, is currently in his seventh and final edition. He will be succeeded by Yannick Noah starting next year.

Tsitsipas, currently competing in his fourth Laver Cup, has been a regular feature in Borg's team over the years. The Swede has always held the World No. 12 in high regard and claimed that Tsitsipas should be winning Grand Slams with the way he's been playing. After the Greek's 6-1, 6-4 win over Kokkinakis, Borg said:

"I have to say, too, to see him play as well as he did today is good for him personally, mentality, everything. Because this is the guy who should be always to win Grand Slam tournaments because the way he plays, but it's matter of how you feel, psychologically, mental, all these things," Borg said during the press conference.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a photo of Tsitsipas and Borg from the event and joked how the Greek was showing the 69-year-old the adoption papers he had made for the Swede earlier, wanting to be adopted by him.

Stefanos Tsitsipas retweeted the image and joked that he was moving to Sweden, Borg's home country.

"I am moving to Sweden 😂😂😂," he tweeted.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, who relieved his father Apostolos of his coaching duties after an early exit at the Canadian Open this year, was asked who he would want to hire as his coach. In response, the Greek said that he would want Bjorn Borg to coach him.

Tsitsipas explained that the Swedish legend's 'aura' made him feel comfortable and they shared a level of connection where they could communicate spiritually.

"The aura, it's all about the aura. Why I choose Bjorn, it's not because he's sitting right next to me here. I feel like the aura makes a big difference. Sometimes it's not what they tell you and how they tell you. It's that intimacy that you feel of someone sitting next to you and communicating things to you in a spiritual way," he said.

Tsitsipas also said he enjoyed his time under Borg's tutelage and hence kept coming back. He felt that having a great captain like Borg gave him a sense of comfort when he stepped out on the court.

"I feel like that's something that I have enjoyed with Bjorn in the last few years, having played Laver Cup, and that is also why I keep coming back. I know that I have a great team captain by myself to support my tennis. That is also something that brings a lot of relief when I step out on the court," he added.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has been a part of two of Team Europe's four Laver Cup triumphs. He was also a part of the 2022 Laver Cup team which featured Roger Federer in the final match of his career.
