Martina Navratilova recently hit out at Chris Cuomo over a controversial remark made by the television journalist anchor on women's rights to sex-based spaces. According to Navratilova, Cuomo's take was an "ignorant" one.
54-year-old Cuomo started his journalism career at ABC News, where he spent 14 years. In 2013, he made the switch to CNN. Cuomo left CNN in controversial circumstances in 2021, with the news media giant sacking him following reports that suggested Cuomo played a role in defending his brother Andrew against sexual harassment allegations. From 2022, he has been working for NewsNation.
Recently, Cuomo stirred controversy after he weighed in on the ongoing war of words between US Representatives Nancy Mace (Republican) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Democratic). The argument stems from a resolution proposed by Mace that aims to ban transgender women from using the US Capitol's women's restrooms.
"We call out the game. What game? The game that is the toxic battle to the bottom for the two political parties, constantly looking for personal takedowns of the other, often picking issues that do nothing to make anything better that matters to most of us. And the game, and these battles, are a key ingredient in what is making everything worse and why nothing gets done," Cuomo said.
"And as we are starting a new administration, it is time to try to force them to stop doing what's making it worse. And that's how I see this Mace vs AOC madness. Madness, because it's literally insane to think that these two, who represent districts with real problems should be this focused and this heated about who gets to p**s with them," Cuomo added.
Left fuming by Cuomo's take on the subject, former World No. 1 and 18-time singles Major winner Martina Navratilova took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote:
"Hey Chris- Women's rights to sex based spaces is not a game. So stop your ignorant bulls**t!!!"
Martina Navratilova recently reacted to a transgender woman activist's call to arms towards the LGBTQ community in the ongoing controversy surrounding access to bathrooms.
Martina Navratilova delivered a brief reaction to a transgender woman using threatening language to urge the LGBTQ community to take up arms
Amid the bathroom access debate between the Republicans and the Democrats, a transgender woman activist recently took to X, urging members of the LGBTQ community to arms themselves in a bid to ensure that transgender women have access to women's restrooms across the US. One of the activist's posts read:
"I dare you to try and stop me from going into a women’s bathroom. It will be the last mistake you ever make. I dare you to try and stop a transgender woman in my presence from using the bathroom. It will be the last mistake you ever make. This is a call to action and a call to arms. You need to arm up, plain and simple. Go out, buy a gun, learn how to use it efficiently… because the time to act is now."
Another X user, concerned about the transgender woman activist's choice of words, reacted to it, opining that the words are similar to threats leading up to male violence. Martina Navratilova, a vociferous critic of transgender women using restrooms meant for biological women, expressed her approval of the concerned user's opinion.
