Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle recently stated that the World No. 5 almost ended up going to the hospital following his Mexico Open semifinal match against Tommy Paul.

Fritz's journey at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco came to an end after he lost 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-7(2) in what was the longest-ever match in the tournament's history. It was an intense physical experience for Fritz; by the end he was cramping badly, and at one point he even vomitted on the court.

Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle later took to social media to give updates about his health. Riddle, a social media influencer, revealed that they were with the tournament doctors until 4 am. She also stated that the World No. 5 had severe dehydration along with chills and full body cramping.

Riddle further said that her boyfriend was too stubborn to default and that he pushed himself too hard despite the humid conditions in Acapulco.

"After he got sick on court last night, we were up until 4 am with the tournament doctors. He couldn't keep any food down, chills, severe dehydration, full body cramping & almost had to go to the hospital. So scary. He is too stubborn to default and pushed himself too hard & these high humidity tournaments are no joke," Riddle said.

Riddle went on to state that while the week ended on a sad note, she is proud of how the past few weeks have gone for Fritz.

"Sad way to end the week but so proud of the last few weeks and excited to get to IW," Riddle said.

Following his semifinal exit from Acapulco, Taylor Fritz will travel to California for the Indian Wells Masters, where he is the defending champion. The 25-year-old won last season's competition by beating Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6(5) in the final.

Fritz has had a pretty good start to the 2023 season, with 14 wins so far out of 18 matches. He was instrumental in the United States winning the inaugural edition of the United Cup, triumphing in four out of his five singles matches.

Fritz already has a title to his name this year; he won the Delray Beach Open with a 6-0, 5-7, 6-2 victory over Miomir Kecmanovic in the final. The American's performances this season have helped him enter the top 5 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career.
