Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle was starstruck upon learning that Taylor Swift was attending the 2024 US Open final between Fritz and Jannik Sinner. Riddle was also amused by fans in the stands cosplaying as her boyfriend.
12th seed Fritz is participating in his maiden Grand Slam final as he takes on Sinner in the summit clash at the US Open on Sunday, September 8. Celebrities from various industries attended the final including Matthew McConaughey, Bon Jovi, and Jon Hamm.
Several sporting personalities also took their seats in the stands including former US Open champions Billie Jean King, Andre Agassi, and Maria Sharapova. NBA stars Steph Curry and Jayson Tatum were also present.
However, it was the 14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce that caught the attention of Riddle. The social media influencer took to her Instagram Story to express her feelings. She posted a picture of herself with a shocked expression and wrote:
"Oh my god mother is here"
In her next Story, she uploaded a video of some of Fritz's fans who dressed up like him wearing a plain t-shirt coupled with a headband.
Taylor Fritz's girlfriend hilariously reacts as he earns a follow from ESPN after claiming 'beef' with them
Before the US Open got underway, Morgan Riddle took to Instagram to share a funny story about her boyfriend Taylor Fritz. Riddle claimed that Fritz was unhappy because ESPN followed her on social media but not him. She wrote:
“Taylor’s mad tonight because ESPN followed me on Instagram and doesn’t follow him.”
Days later, Fritz reached the fourth round of the New York Major without dropping a set and was scheduled to face eighth seed Casper Ruud.
ESPN's official X (formerly Twitter) account congratulated Fritz on his achievement of becoming the first American man to reach the second week of a singles event at all four Grand Slams in a year since Andre Agassi in 2003. Fritz appreciated the compliments but joked that they had beef.
"🔥 Love the shoutout from @espn but you follow my gf and not me on insta so we have beef," Taylor Fritz tweeted.
After getting the better of Ruud, fourth seed Alexander Zverev, and 20th seed Frances Tiafoe, Fritz set up a final against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Upon reaching the final, however, the American secured a follow from ESPN and Riddle posted it on her story hilariously writing that she was 'proud' of him.
