Andy Murray is impressed by his wife Kim Sears’ efforts in making the refurbishment of their luxury hotel a success.

In January 2023, it was announced that the Cromlix Hotel would be undergoing a three-month refurbishment. While Murray himself was unable to monitor the renovation due to his tennis commitments, the athlete’s wife stepped in to undertake the responsibility.

The refurbishment has since been completed and the hotel is all set to reopen its doors to visitors. On Saturday, March 25, Andy Murray shared the exciting news and applauded his wife and the team involved for making the work a success.

“Very proud of my wife and all the team at @cromlixhotel on all the work they have done,” he wrote on his Instagram story, adding, “Hope you all like it.”

In 2013 - the same year where he had his first Grand Slam title win at Wimbledon - Andy Murray bought a £1.8m luxury hotel called the Cromlix House Hotel in Scotland.

The estate, which is located close to the British tennis player’s hometown of Dunblane, holds special significance. The three-time Major champion’s older brother Jamie married his wife Alejandra Gutierrez in 2010 on the property.

In 2015, Andy Murray and his wife Kim Sears held their own wedding reception at the luxury hotel. Moreover, the 35-year-old’s father William married his partner on the luxury property in 2016.

On the tennis front, Andy Murray has crashed out of the ongoing 2023 Miami Open. The two-time champion at the tournament suffered a straight-sets defeat to Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 7-5 in the opening round.

The former World No. 1, who has had some noteworthy runs this season, was expectedly disappointed with his early exit.

“Obviously, I was hoping to do much better here,” he said after his match.

Not dwelling too much on his loss, however, the three-time Grand Slam champion stated that he will soon commence his clay court preparations. These preparations are likely to be in Spain, ahead of the red dirt season.

“I will start training on the clay soon. Where I do that, I'm not sure,” Murray said. “I'm going to Spain. My family is going there on the 30th, so I'll join them there. We're going to do some training in the south of Spain for a week or so. I'm not sure what I will do before then.”
