Carlos Alcaraz was told 'I Love You' by a fan during his 2024 US Open practice, while another fan doubled it down by telling the Spaniard everyone loved him. This interaction put a huge smile on his face as he looked forward to continuing his session.
Alcaraz is currently gearing up for the US Open after having an impressive 2024 season so far. The Spaniard has won two Grand Slams, the BNP Paribas Open and an Olympic silver.
However, the 21-year-old had a disappointing outing at the Cincinnati Open, as he suffered a second-round at the hands of Gael Monfils. Alcaraz will next aim to win the Calendar Surface Slam (a Major in all surfaces during a year) at the US Open.
During a practice session at the New York Major, the Spaniard sat down for a break and a fan shouted in Spanish see you tomorrow and followed it up with an I love you for Alcaraz. Another fan shouted how everyone loved the 21-year-old, which saw him let out a huge smile.
"It doesn't affect me at all" - Carlos Alcaraz brushes off lack of hard-court matches concern ahead of US Open

During his pre-tournament press conference, Carlos Alcaraz was asked if he was concerned about the lack of hard-court matches heading into the US Open. The Spaniard had only competed at the Cincinnati Masters ahead of the New York Major and was eliminated by Gael Monfils in his opening match.
Alcaraz admitted that he would've loved to have more matches under his belt, but said that it didn't affect him. He mentioned how he didn't have many matches before the French Open and Wimbledon, and yet, he ended up winning them.
"Obviously I have loved to have more matches on my belt on hard court before the US Open. But, I mean, it doesn't affect me at all," he said. "If I look back a little bit, for example, [at] Roland Garros, I hadn't [played] too much matches on clay, and it was a pretty good result. And then in Wimbledon, same thing."
The 21-year-old said that while he didn't want to think about having a similar outcome at the US Open, he wasn't too concerned of the lack of matches on hard courts.
"I don't want to think that it's going to be the same [as] the previous two Grand Slams, but I'm not worried about not having too many matches on hard court," Carlos Alcaraz said.
The 21-year-old will kick off his 2024 US Open campaign against qualifier Li Tu. The winner of their match will play the winner of Denis Shapovalov vs Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round.
