Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Francisca Perelló were recently captured enjoying a lively social event, following the conclusion of the Rafa Nadal Open at the Spaniard's academy in Manacor, Spain. The couple, who began dating in 2005, got married in 2019 and welcomed their son in October 2022.
The ATP Challenger tournament has been held annually since 2018, except for 2020 due to COVID-19. This year, 23-year-old Croatian Duje Ajduković won the title by defeating Matteo Gigante in the final with scores of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4. The 22-time Grand Slam winner was also present at this year's event.
Following the final, a social event was held at the academy. An X user posted a video featuring Nadal's wife dancing in a black gown while the band played.
A fan also posted a picture from the event with Nadal. In the caption, he said that visiting the academy for a drink led to a serendipitous encounter with the former World No.1, who was blending in with the crowd.
“Serendipia ➡️ Go to #rafaelnadal to have a drink and find yourself an afternoon/evening with Don #rafaelnadlsportscentre as one more in the crowd (literally),” the fan captioned.
Nadal's sister Maribel was also in attendance for the tournament's final on Sunday. She shared a video from the trophy presentation ceremony and a photo with friends on her Instagram story.
Rafael Nadal missed the 2024 US Open and his next tournament will be the Laver Cup
Earlier in August, Rafael Nadal announced that he wouldn’t be competing at the US Open this season because he doesn’t feel he can give his all. He added that he will next be competing at the 2024 Laver Cup, which will be held in Berlin from 20-22 September.
“Hi all, writing today to let you guys know that I have decided not to compete at this year’s US Open a place where I have amazing memories. I will miss those electric and special night sessions in NYC at Ashe, but I don’t think I would be able to give my 100% this time. Thanks to all my US Fans, in particular, will miss you all and will see you another time. Best of luck to all for the always amazing US Open! My next event will be the Laver Cup in Berlin.” he said
The Spaniard has won the US Open four times and is the only active player on the ATP tour, apart from Novak Djokovic, to have won the title four times. At the Laver Cup, he has represented Team Europe on three occasions and helped them win the title in 2017 and 2019.
