The 2023 edition of Tennis Paradise at Indian Wells is just around the corner. The joint ATP and WTA event, often referred to as the “fifth Grand Slam” for its quality and attendance, is expected to feature some of the biggest stars in tennis.

Over the course of a fortnight in March, the top men’s and women’s players will vie for the coveted Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 titles respectively.

Many prominent players, including the defending champions – home favorite and World No. 5 Taylor Fritz and World No. 1 Iga Swiatek - will be seen in action at the event. Other players expected to make a good showing at the tournament include Carlos Alcaraz, Paula Badosa, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jessica Pegula, Daniil Medvedev, Coco Gauff, Jannik Sinner, Maria Sakkari, Frances Tiafoe, Aryna Sabalenka and Alexander Zverev.

Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, is also set to contest the tournament. Dominic Thiem, the 2019 Indian Wells champion and 2020 US Open champion, has been granted a wildcard.

The tournament will also have some notable absentees such as three-time champion and 2022 finalist Rafael Nadal, Aussie star Nick Kyrgios, and 2018 champion Naomi Osaka. Meanwhile, uncertainty still looms over the participation of five-time Indian Wells champion Novak Djokovic.

Nonetheless, with an exciting edition of Tennis Paradise full of possibilities rapidly approaching, here’s a look at the key details of the tournament.

When and where is Indian Wells 2023?

The tournament will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden near Palm Springs, California between March 6-19. The qualifying rounds will commence from Monday, March 6, whereas the women’s and men’s main draw matches will be contested Wednesday, March 8 onwards.

What is the schedule for Indian Wells 2023?

The tournament will be played in seven rounds, with 96 players contesting the men’s and women’s singles categories each. The first round will be held between Wednesday, March 8 and Thursday, March 9.

The top 32 players from each of the singles categories will be seeded. These players will receive a bye in the first round and gain direct entry into the Round of 64.

The second, third and fourth rounds will be conducted from Friday, March 10 to Tuesday, March 14. This will be followed by the quarterfinals, scheduled for Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16.

The women's semifinals will take place on Friday, March 17 while the men's semifinals will be held on Saturday, March 18. The tournament will reach its conclusion with the men’s and women’s final matches scheduled for Sunday, March 19.

The day sessions for the first six rounds will start at 11:00 am local time and the evening session will commence at 6:00 pm local time. Meanwhile, the Sunday finals will be held from 1:00 pm local time onwards.
