Tennis fans have come to Iga Swiatek's defense after certain people claimed on social media that the Polish player's dominance of the women's tour in recent times was "boring."

Over the last year or so, Swiatek has produced several wondrous results with jaw-dropping scorelines. In 2022 Swiatek inflicted 22 bagels (6-0) and 20 breadsticks (6-1) on top-ranked players, which gave rise to the nickname 'Iga's Bakery.'

The Pole has brought her ruthlessness to 2023 as well, winning the Qatar Open and reaching the semifinals of the ongoing Dubai Tennis Championships without dropping a set. Across those seven matches (two walkovers) Swiatek has lost just eight games overall, for an average of less than a game per set.

However, one fan took to Twitter to try and spoil the 21-year-old's party, remarking that her domination was making the WTA "boring."

"and i repeat, Iga Swiatek is making the WTA boring," the fan tweeted

Many came to Swiatek's defense soon after, stating that her wins were not her fault and calling out other players for not being able to go toe-to-toe against the Pole. They also pointed out the apparent double standards, claiming that the WTA has been called boring before for not having consistency in the rankings too.

"When a male player does this - they are regarded the GOAT, the tour needs a dominant number 1 - when the womens tour gets a dominant player, it’s boring, we need rivalries, nobody watches," one fan wrote.
"Well, more logically the rest of the players are making it boring," another user said.
