Wimbledon recently shared a few iconic pictures, taken over the years, in black and white format. It featured the likes of some all-time greats such as Jimmy Connors, Chris Evert, and Martina Navratilova, among others.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments, the Wimbledon Championship is a Grand Slam held on grass. The Major is also the oldest tennis tournament in the world, making its debut in 1887. Since its inception, Wimbledon has been played at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London.

On March 16, Wimbledon turned to social media to post a flurry of pictures of some former champions and great legends of the sport. Martina Navratilova, the former World No. 1 who has won the Wimbledon singles title nine times, the most by any player, also features in the post, pictured alongside fellow former World No. 1 Chris Evert.

"Wimbledon through the black and white lens 📸,." Wimbledon captioned the Instagram post.

The long post also included the likes of Rod Laver, winner of 11 Grand Slam singles titles, which included four Wimbledon singles titles. Laver was seen being handed a trophy by the late Queen Elizabeth.

Former American great Arthur Ashe, who remains the only black man to win Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open singles titles, made an appearance beside Jimmy Connors.

Althea Gibson, the first African-American to win a Grand Slam, was clicked while she was serving the ball. Three-time Wimbledon winner John McEnroe and five-time Wimbledon winner Bjorn Borg were pictured in the middle of their match. Former World No. 3 Sue Barker also featured in the 10-picture post.
