Barbora Krejcikova will be in action on Day 1 of the WTA Elite Trophy

The WTA Elite Trophy makes a return to the women's tour for the first time since 2019, with Day 1 taking place on October 24, 2023.

Aryna Sabalenka won the most recent edition of the tournament in 2019 by beating Kiki Bertens 6-4, 6-2 in the final. Neither of the two will be competing this year, with Bertens retiring from tennis in 2021 while Sabalenka will be competing in the WTA Finals as the top seed.

A total of 12 players are taking part this year and are drawn into four groups of three each. A total of four matches will take place on the opening day, three singles and a doubles. The first match on Huafa Center Court is the women's doubles meeting between third seeds Ulrikke Eikeri and Lyudmyla Kichenok, and fifth seeds Wang Xiyu and Xu Yifan.

Top seed Barbora Krejcikova will face 11th seed Magda Linette in the first match of Azalea Group, while second seed Madison Keys will face eighth seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opening fixture of Camellia Group.
