Madison Keys vs Tatjana Maria preview

Madison Keys got her grass court season off to a steady start in Eastbourne. She recovered from an early break in her Round of 16 match with Anastasia Zaharova, and then came back from a set down to defeat Diana Shnaider in her quarterfinal, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Australian Open champion's form has been a little sketchy since Melbourne in January. One semifinal at Indian Wells and two quarterfinals represent a less-than-satisfactory return after her heroics in Australia, so she will be looking at the new HSBC championships at Queen's Club as an opportunity to get back on track before Wimbledon.
Tatjana Maria is ranked No. 86 and has been a revelation at the Queen's tournament. She beat sixth seed Karolina Muchova in three sets to set up her quarterfinal against Elena Rybakina, the fourth seed. The 37-year-old's 6-4, 7-6(4) defeat of Rybakina was her fifth win of the week, and her semifinal appearance is her best showing since Wimbledon 2022.
Madison Keys vs Tatjana Maria head-to-head
Keys and Maria have played three times on the WTA tour. Keys leads the head-to-head 3-0. All three matches took place some years ago, with the last encounter in 2019. They've only locked horns on a grass court once - in the third round at Wimbledon in 2015, with Keys emerging victorious 6-4, 6-4.

Madison Keys vs Tatjana Maria prediction

Despite Keys' uneven season, she remains a high-class operator and the tournament's second seed. Ranked No. 8, Keys has had a couple of early setbacks in her matches this week on the grass, but has stormed back to win well.
Maria has been the surprise package of the tournament, but at 37, she's played a lot of tennis already at this event, having come through qualifying. It's a little difficult to see her maintaining her level against someone who has been a Major champion as recently as Keys. Maria may find some early success, but Keys should be able to manage a win over three sets.
Pick: Keys to win in three sets.
