Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will meet for the fifth time in their careers in the semifinals of the 2023 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Alcaraz advanced to the semifinals by defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis, Tallon Griekspoor, Jack Draper, and Felix Auger-Aliassime, while Sinner defeated Richard Gasquet, Adrian Mannarino, Stan Wawrinka, and Taylor Fritz to make it to the last four. With this match, both players will look to keep their chances of winning their first Indian Wells title alive.

Alcaraz and Sinner were asked to comment on their friendship during an interview with TennisTV. Carlos Alcaraz said that he and Sinner have delightful conversations outside of the court and that they are "great friends."

"Yes, of course. I mean, I talk to him outside the court, by phone. I mean, we laugh a lot. He is a nice person. Of course, he has a great team around him and, of course, we are great friends," Alcaraz said.

Jannik Sinner was less expressive than the Spaniard, saying that while they get along very well off the court, they attempt to disregard their friendship on the court and focus on themselves.

"But I think it's also nice to see when two are getting along very well off the court then on court, you know, we try to take that part really away and try to focus on ourselves," Sinner said.

Tennis fans found their contradictory reactions amusing and took to Twitter to share their thoughts. According to one user, it's clear from their comments that Carlos Alcaraz is a "huge extrovert," while Jannik Sinner is the polar "opposite" of him.

"You can tell that Carlos is a huge extrovert and Jannik the opposite just from that video," the user wrote.

Another user compared the relationship between Alcaraz and Sinner to that of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the early 2000s.

"Rafa and roger in the late 2000s lmfaoo," the user Tweeted.
