Reilly Opelka vs Nicolas Jarry preview
Reilly Opelka will look to make the best of his second chance as he, having been awarded a lucky loser entry into the 2025 Rosmalen Grass Court Championships 2025, takes on Nicolas Jarry in the second round.
Opelka, who lost in the final round to qualifiers, comes into the grass season with a modest-at-best 12-10 win-loss for the season. He began the year strong, beating Novak Djokovic en route to the final in Brisbane in January. He, however, has been unable to replicate that sort of form elsewhere.
The American managed only one main draw win during the entire clay season, a first-round win over Rinky Hijikata at the French Open. Playing at Rosmalen, he bounced back from the qualifiers exit to beat Jesper De Jong in the opening round in a tight three-setter. He will look to take the winning momentum ahead.

Jarry, meanwhile, had come into the tournament desperate for wins. The 5-12 start to the season has seen him drop outside the top 100 of the world rankings. The last time he beat a top-50 opponent was back in January when he got the better of Mariano Navone at Brisbane. A return to grass, the surface where he has achieved some of his biggest results, brought some respite to the Chilean. He scored a big win over eighth seed Luciano Darderi to progress into the second round.
Reilly Opelka vs Nicolas Jarry head-to-head
The two players have never crossed paths on the ATP Tour before, so their current head-to-head stands at a 0-0 deadlock.

Reilly Opelka vs Nicolas Jarry prediction

Both Reilly Opelka and Nicolas Jarry possess power-packed games built around their big serves. The grasscourts are well-suited for such a style of tennis, and fans can expect an ace fest.
Opelka hit 19 aces in his first-round encounter alone, four more than Jarry's 15. Both men won around 75% of points behind the first serve and will once again rely on their big weapon to win them a fair few easy points.
With neither player being in great form, the outcome of this encounter may well come down to the minutest of details. Jarry, for one, holds an edge in terms of his movement on the surface. He is likely to feel more comfortable in the rallies and could dictate the tempo of the match.
Tiebreaker sets could well be in the offing given the duo's prowess on serve, but if Jarry can keep his error count in check, he should be able to eke out a win.
Prediction: Jarry to win in three sets
