Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis lose in the semifinals of Rogers Cup

The defening Wimledon doubles champion were knocked out in the semifinals

The Indo-Swiss pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis was knocked in the semifinals stage of the Rogers Cup, losing in straight sets 6-2 6-3 to Caroline Garcia and Katerina Srebotnik on Sunday, the Indian Express reports.

Mirza and Hingis broke their opponents twice but lost their serve on five occasions in the match, which also saw both pairs save 4 break points. The duo of Srebotnik and Garcia won 54 points as compared to 41 points for the pair of Mirza and Hingis.

Mirza and Hingis had defeated the pair of Hao-Ching and Yung-Han in the quarterfinal in straight sets and were certinly looking to do an encore, but unfortunately for them that wasn't the case and they had to bow out of the tournament in straight sets.

Final Scoreline- Katerine Srebotnik/Carline Garcia beat Sania Mirza/Martina Hingis 6-2 6-3
