New York, Aug 28 (IANS) Fifth-seeded Maria Sharapova came from one set behind to beat Alexandra Dulgheru.
World number 95 Dulgheru broke in the seventh game and won the first set 6-4. Sharapova fought back in the second set taking it 6-3, and comfortably ended the match with a score of 6-2 in the third set.
"She played really well," Sharapova said. "I started off really well, but didn't take the opportunity to go up 3-0." Sharapova's next opponent would be 26th seeded Sabine Lisicki.
