World No.8 women's tennis player Caroline Wozniacki on Sunday said her split from her former golfer beau Rory Mcllroy is a thing of the past.

Denmark's Wozniacki, in the city to play the Sydney International tournament, also said returning to the place where she was engaged to the World No.1 golfer Dec 31, 2013, was a strange feeling but insisted "I'm past what happened last year", reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Obviously it feels different (coming back here), because a lot has changed since then. I love Sydney, it's a great place. But honestly, I'm past what happened last year," Wozniacki said.

"I don't really think back to be honest, I just enjoy where I am right now and I'm in a happy place. This is what I want to be in the spotlight for, because I play well and for my hard work."

The high profile relationship catapulted the couple on top the newspapers but they split on May 21 last year after nearly five months of whirlwind romance.

The 24-year-old Wozniacki is happy that she is now in news only for her professional life.

"It just comes naturally when you play well and start doing well, people start getting interested in your life both on and off the court," she said.
