12th-ranked Tommy Haas bolstered his chances of making the cut for the year-end ATP World Tour Finals in London by brushing aside the seventh-seed Czech Radek Stepanek 7-6 (10), 6-3 to book a place in the semi-final of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna.

Haas, 35, will face-off against another Czech Lukas Rosol for a spot in the final.

When asked about his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals in London- a tournament in which the top eight players of the season are eligible to compete, Haas said that he isn’t thinking about the permutations now. “I live from match to match,” he said.

In the other section of the draw, Robin Haase, who has won twice in Vienna before, extended his bonhomie with the Austrian courts as he overcame his much-fancied opponent Fabio Fognini in three stiff sets to await the winner of the Jo-Wilfried Tsonga-Dominic Thiem match for a spot in the summit clash.

Haase lost the opening set to the second-seeded Italian in a tie-breaker before he went on a juggernaut to crush Fognini in the next two sets 6-1, 6-1.

Earlier in the day, Rosol vanquished Ruben Bemelmans in three sets to enter the semifinal.
