Court attendants dry center court at the US Open in New York as heavy rain delays the start of play

Action on Super Saturday at the US Open got under way at 1225 local time (1625GMT) after a delay of almost 90 minutes caused by heavy rain, accompanied by a tornado warning for the New York area.

British third seed and Olympic champion Andy Murray was taking on Czech sixth seed Tomas Berdych at Arthur Ashe Stadium in the first men’s semi-final.

That match is set to be followed by defending champion and Serbian second seed Novak Djokovic against Spanish fourth seed David Ferrer.
