Tennis ace Victoria Azarenka has announced on micro-blogging site Twitter that she is pregnant. The current World No. 6 didn’t reveal the name of the man with whom she is expecting the baby, merely stating that she and her boyfriend would become parents soon. A few sources are reporting that her boyfriend is Bill McKeague, who has been frequently spotted with her in recent times.

The 26-year-old was forced to withdraw from the French Open last month after suffering a knee injury, which further kept her from competing in the recently concluded Wimbledon 2016 – where Serena Williams lifted her Open-Era equalling 22nd Grand Slam in singles. It was during this injury break that Azarenka's doctor revealed to her that she was pregnant, with the baby being due by the end of the year, .

Azarenka has two singles Grand Slam titles under her belt, with both of her victories coming at the Australian Open – in 2012 and 2013.

The Belarusian claimed her first title since 2013 earlier this year when she beat Angelique Kerber in the final of the Brisbane International. She went on to become only the third woman in history to win back-to-back titles at the American spring hardcourt Masters in Indian Wells and Miami, sparking hopes of a return to the World No. 1 ranking.

With this latest development, however, she will miss out on tennis for the remainder of the year. It is not yet clear when Azarenka will be able to make a return to the tour, although the 26-year-old has assured her fans that she will be returning to the game at the earliest and will be aiming to be a more complete player than she was before.

Azarenka also paid homage to all the women who continued to pursue their dreams and excel in their fields after having children, and outlined her intentions of doing the same. The most notable of those examples is Kim Clijsters, who returned to the tour after giving birth and went on to win the US Open in 2009 and 2010 as well as the Australian Open in 2011.

We at Sportskeeda would like to wish Azarenka the best of health during this period.
