5 Caroline Wozniacki vs Garbine Muguruza

Wozniacki (L) and Muguruza at the 2014 Toray Pan Pacific Open

Head-to-head overall: 1-2

Head-to-head on grass: First meeting

This is a match that many may not have predicted taking place. Wozniacki was unsteady while Muguruza is no grass player. In fact, the Spaniard reached this round after downing one of the favourites, Angelique Kerber in a thriller of a match. With Muguruza making it past the second round for the first time, Wozniacki looks to breaks the fourth round jinx after failing to win in her five previous similar matches. She has repeatedly stated that her comfort on grass courts is good and that she is well prepared now. This could be best opportunity yet for Wozniacki to make her presence felt at the Wimbledon

Prediction: Caroline Wozniacki to win in straight sets

6 Timea Bacsinszky vs Monica Niculescu

Bacsinszky (L) and Niculescu

Head-to-head overall: 1-4

Head-to-head on grass: First meeting

Making up for the absence of her countrywoman Simana Halep will be Monica Niculescu, who will be playing in the second week at SW19 for the first time in her career. Standing between her and a last eight spot is Timea Bacsinszky. The Swiss is in fine fettle since the beginning of this season. Having played consistently to reach the business ends of most of the tournaments she has played, she will definitely be the favourite to win this match.

Prediction: Timea Bacsinszky to win in straight sets

7 Olga Govortsova vs Madison Keys

Olga Govortsova (L) and American star Madison Keys

Head-to-head overall: 0-1

Head-to-head on grass: First meeting

Rising American star Madison Keys will vie for a last eight or better finish for the second time this year and in her career. Her journey will entail facing one of the unlikeliest opponents in Olga Govortsova. The Belarusian entered the tournament through the qualifying tournament and would have hardly been fancied to reach this stage even by her own fans. Yet, she has managed a three good wins to reach this stage. Even then, there is little to convince many that she could half the progress of Keys.

Prediction: Madison Keys to win in straight sets

8 Agnieszka Radwanska vs Jelena Jankovic

Radwanska of Poland (L) will face Czech Jelena Jankovic

Head-to-head overall : 5-2

Head-to-head on grass: First meeting

In another surprising result, defending Champion Petra Kvitova was ousted by Jelena Jankovic. Producing some of her best tennis, the Serb managed to unsettle the Czech with her beautiful backhands. Her opponent will be former finalist Agnieszka Radwanska. The Polish ace has not had a great season so far and will to revalidate her presence in the top level with a good performance here. This match has the potential to produce some sparks and will be one of the most high-profile contests on Monday. It is uncertain who the winner may be, however.

Prediction: Radwanska to win in three sets
