Wimbledon’s ladies single’s event had completed its fourth round and reached the Quarters. Let us have a look into the fourth round and quarter final’s performance till now and the possible semi – final line up.

In the fourth round Serena Williams faced off with one of her bitter rivals and former world number 1 and Wimbledon winner Maria Sharapova. Sharapova who of late was seen doing well on the court also but Serena had other thoughts and showed her the exit in two sets. After a well fought first set Serena broke Sharapova once in the second set to clinch it 6-4. The final score was 7-6 (11-9) 6-4 and the match lasted 96 minutes. Serena’s elder sister Venus Williams also got through to the Quarters against Australian Groth 6-4 7-6 (7-5). Ninth seed Chinese Li Na overcame Polish Agnieszka Radwanska who was seeded seventh 6-3 6-2. Estonia’s unseeded Kaia Kanepi defeated another unseeded Klara Zakopalova in straight sets 6-2 6-4 to advance to the Quarters. Kim Clijsters overcame here old rival Justin Henin in three sets 2-6 6-2 6-3.
The fourth round also saw some upsets in the form of Bartoli, Wozniacki and Jankovic. While fourth seed Jelena Jankovic retired when she was down 1-6 0-3 against Vera Zvonareva; Bartoli lost to Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4 6-4. Another upset was Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki seeded third lost to the unseeded Petra Kvitova 6-2 6-0.
The results meant that Serena Williams will face Li Na while both the unseeded will face off with Kvitova facing Kanepi. Clijsters was up against the Russian Zvonareva while Venus Williams was to face Pironkova.While in the Quarter Finals number one seed Serena Williams overcame Li Na to reach the Semis 7-5 6-3. Petra Kvitova overcame Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi in hard fought match after going down in the first set 4-6 7-6 (10 -8) 8-6 in 159 minutes. Kim Clijsters had to make way for Vera Zvonareva because of her unforced errors 6-3 4-6 2-6. In the last of the Quarter Finals Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria overcame the off-color second seed Venus Williams of USA causing another upset 6-2 6-3 in 85 minutes.
So the finals Semi Final line up will be Number one seed Serena Williams up against Petra Kvitova and in the second Semi Final it will be Russian Vera Zvonareva against Tsvetana Pironkova.
