Who is Erika Slezak? Everything to know as the actress joins the cast of General Hospital

Senior soap opera veteran Erika Slezak is slated to appear on General Hospital sometime in the fall of 2025. Slezak is known for playing Victoria Lord on One Life to Live. She was part of OLTL from 1971 to 2013, when the show was last filmed, making her a record holder for the longest soap opera role. At the time of writing this article, Erika Slezak's character in GH remained undisclosed.

Both Slezak's website and GH executive producer, Frank Valentini's X account, announced her entry into the General Hospital storyline. The administrator of her website emphasized that Slezak and the long-running ABC daily soap signed a short-term contract. Moreover, the actor expressed excitement for the prospect of working again with Valentini, whom she knew from her One Life to Live days.

A glance at Erika Slezak's journey so far

Although Hollywood-born, Erika has mixed race origins that include Dutch, Czech, Austrian and German-Jewish. Her father is Walter Slezak, an Austrian actor. Incidentally, Walter was a Tony Awards winner. Erika's grandfather was opera performer Leo Slezak. Raised in Connecticut, she was schooled in a Philadelphia convent. Erika went on to graduate from the esteemed Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

Her early career involved the theatres in Milwaukee, Houston and Chicago. Although she auditioned for All My Children, she was offered work on OLTL. Her role as Victoria Lord Riley, AKA Viki, in the show earned her six Daytime Emmy Awards. She played Viki for 42 years on the soap, which included its online revived version by Prospect Park in 2013.

Some of the other projects that Erika Slezak was part of include television movies, Full Circle and Next Stop, Christmas. The television series in which she made an appearance are Special Unit 2, The Resident, Guest Artist, and Blue Bloods.
