Gilbert Arenas’ ex, Laura Govan, often highlights her deep bond with her kids on social media. On Thursday, the Basketball Wives alum took to Instagram yet again to playfully react to her son Alijah Arenas’ dance moves.
Alijah, the 6-foot-5 guard from Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, CA, is known for his impressive basketball court performances. However, he recently showed off a different side of himself—his killer dance moves.
In a video clip posted by R&B artist Eric Bellinger on his Instagram story on November 27, the 5-star prospect was seen dancing by the roadside. Bellinger captioned it:
“THE BOY GOT HOOPS AND DANCE MOVES.”
Alijah’s mom, Laura Govan, joined in on the fun as well. She reshared the video clip on her Instagram story, adding a playful reaction—a laughing emoji:
“😂”.
Laura Govan offers unwavering support to her four children with the NBA great Gilbert Arenas. In another instance, she was all pumped up about his son's comparison with none other than James Harden, the 10X NBA all-star.
When Harden revealed he sees himself in Alijah after a post-match discussion on November 19, 2024, Laura Govan couldn't contain her joy. Laura expressed her excitement by sharing the clip of Harden’s remarks on Instagram on November 24, captioning it:
"(James Harden) On (Alijah Arenas's) Game 💪🏾”
How Did Laura Govan's son Alijah Arenas react to his comparison with NBA stars?
Alijah Arenas is No. 5 in 247Sports' national ranking of top recruits of the Class of 2026. In his recent game against Westchester Senior on November 19, Alijah posted an impressive 25-point performance—a feat that ultimately impressed Clippers guard James Harden. He has also been previously compared to NBA stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
But how does Alijah himself feel about all the comparisons? The youngster revealed in a mid-November interview with Forbes:
“I've been told—especially when I was younger—that I play like Jamal Crawford,” said Arenas.
“I've heard Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) a little bit. Honestly, for me to tell you, I don't really know. For me, if I see something and I like it, I'll use it. It's not like I'm planning on using it; it just happens.” He added.
He further said:
“If I see it one time—like if I'm at a 24-hour Fitness—I see somebody did it, I'll try it in the game to work. That's the type of person I am. My dad will say, ‘Hey, come look at this.’ We see something, work on it, and I'll put it in the game.”
Alijah Arenas has started his junior season at Chatsworth High School. Arizona, Kansas, Texas, and Alabama are lined up to secure his commitment. But it will be another year before he picks his college.
