On Tuesday, June 10, BTS' RM and Taehyung were discharged from the military following the completion of their mandatory service period. Soon after their discharge, the two members began a Weverse livestream as BigHit Entertainment threw them a 'Welcome Back' party.

During the livestream, both talked about the various things that unfolded during their enlistment period. At one point, Taehyung expressed that he wanted to look his best for his fans, and therefore, he tried to lose the weight he had gained during his military service.

The idol explained that he used to be around 61 kg, but after the military, his weight was 80 kg. Therefore, a few weeks before the discharge, the idol stated that he'd been following a specific diet and routine to lose weight, and now he's brought his weight down to 66 kg.

Some of the things that Taehyung did to lose weight were cutting out carbs, waking up at 5 am to work out alone to prevent bloating, and also wearing a winter parka so that he could sweat more. When fans and netizens learned about the same, they were seemingly saddened by the same. One fan tweeted:

"Who really told him that we were unhappy with his weight 😭😭Like.. He didn't have to do that much"
"I can imagine how hard he must have worked," said a fan on X.
"You look good in any shape. I am sure building up to 80kg wasn’t an easy task eather. The most important is for you to be healthy and feel good in your body. I wish you don’t stress yourself about it much," added another fan.
"Please stop you don’t have toooooo pls I wish he would read how much we actually don’t care about this stuff," commented a netizen.

More fans and netizens expressed sadness at the idol's need to conform to beauty standards and empathized with him.

"Listen to yourself how you wanna look don't worry about us. For us u r always handsome," stated a fan.
"Youre already perfect Taehyung, dont be so hard on urself pls (unless it makes u happy)," said a netizen.
