BTS' Jimin's photocard stands out among all the K-pop collectibles on Bunjang
BTS continues to make waves beyond the music scene, dominating the global resale market for fan merchandise. A report from the South Korean platform Bungaejangter or Bunjang, released on November 28, 2024, highlighted the popularity of K-pop collectibles, with BTS leading across multiple metrics.
From January to October 2024, BTS topped the search charts on Bunjang's “Global Market” platform, garnering over 1.49 million searches. The total market of K-pop collectibles was 69%. Out of this, BTS claimed the first position, SEVENTEEN followed in second place with 919,261 searches, while virtual idol group PLAVE, NCT, and IVE rounded out the top five. This showed competition among the K-pop fanbases.
In the "Star Goods" category, BTS-related merchandise was the most traded. A standout item was Jimin’s photocard, which fetched a record-breaking price of 3 million KRW in October, marking it as the highest-priced item sold. Fans were proud of the singer for achieving the title of the most expensive postcard among all his group members.
Other notable trades included a LOONA photocard at 2 million KRW and BTS Suga’s D-DAY calendar at 1.5 million KRW, reflecting the global demand for exclusive K-pop items.
The United States ranked as the top international market for K-pop collectibles, followed by Japan, China, and Vietnam. This reflected BTS' global reach and their strong fanbase in key regions around the world.
Bungaejangter's "Global Market" platform saw significant growth, with a 95% increase in monthly active users compared to January 2024. This growth can directly be proportioned to the increasing demand for K-pop collectibles.
This became a standout moment for Jimin as an idol. Even though fans will keep wondering which exact photo card it might've been, they're delighted by his individual success.
