No Way Out: The Roulette is the story of a masked man who offers millions to anyone who can kill a criminal. The masked vigilante is hellbent on killing the criminals due to the lack of a stringent judicial system. The plot also focuses on Detective Joong-sik losing all his savings to a chit-fund along with several other investors and is forced to protect a criminal.

They go to the broker's office and find that they have disappeared with everyone's money. Due to his bad investment decision, Joong-sik's family faces dire poverty as they have nowhere to live. The lines between morality and survival begin to blur a little for Joong-sik when he finds himself in possession of 1 billion won ($736,287) accidentally.

Meanwhile, No Way Out: The Roulette's second episode opens with a flashback that takes place 13 years in the past, introducing Kim Guk-ho. He has been serving a 15-year prison sentence for r*ping and murdering a minor girl named Lee Min-jin. The episode shows how he drugs Min-jin and kidnaps her. Guk-ho s*xually assaults her, which leads to her death.

Guk-ho gets sent to prison for 15 years; however, due to good behavior, he gets released 2 years earlier than his original sentence. At present, the roulette announces a $15 million winning prize to anyone who can kill Guk-ho. The masked vigilante announces that the bounty will double to $30 million if they can make Guk-ho take his own life for his heinous crimes.


No Way Out: The Roulette Episode 1 unravels into the dark world of gory deaths and sins

No Way Out: The Roulette Disney Plus thriller series stars Cho Jin-woong as Joong-sik, Greg Hsu as Mr. Smile, Kim Sung-cheol as Sung Jung-woo, Kim Mu-yeol as Lee Sang-bong, and Yu Jae-myung as the criminal, Kim Guk-ho.

Detective Baek Joong-sik is a dedicated and competent worker, but he loses a lot of money when a building he invests into a chit-fund. His world comes crashing down as his actions lead his family into poverty. Joong-sik tries to find the person who suggested he invest in the chit-fund, while the fear of his wife and daughter abandoning him cripples his mind.

Meanwhile, another junior police officer calls Joong-sik regarding a man whose ear has been completely severed. Yoon Chang-jae, a butcher, ended up in the hospital with a severed ear. Joong-sik and the policeman quickly learn that the man who initially reported the event was the one who severed Chang-jae's ear off.

Joong-sik and the police try to find the culprit (Ji-hoon) who cut off Chang-jae. After locating his address, Joong-sik chases Ji-hoon by himself, but the latter falls from the stairs and cracks his head open, dying immediately. Joong-sik goes to Ji-hoon's apartment and finds a suspicious suitcase. He takes it without opening it and calls the police to tell them that Ji-hoon accidentally died.

Later, Chang-jae enters Ji-hoon's apartment and looks for the suitcase, but it's nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, Joong-sik leaves in his car with the suitcase in his hand. He discovers that the suitcase contains 1 billion won ($736,287), the reward money that Ji-hoon won for severing Chang-jae's ear. Chang-jae finds out from another car's dashcam footage that Joong-sik was the one who took away the suitcase full of cash.

The next day at work, Joong-sik finds out about an online vigilante who is offering people money to play roulette. Joong-sik quickly connects the dots and realizes that the masked vigilante names a target for the kill after spinning a roulette. The vigilante is on a mission to right the wrongs of the South Korean judiciary system that lets off criminals after a few years of sentence.

The masked man offers millions of dollars to anyone ready to kill those criminals who get freed from prison. A video gets uploaded, revealing that at the Hosan NC Park, 1 billion won will be given out on the 15th at 5 p.m. A large crowd arrives in anticipation of the big countdown, and as the seconds approach zero, shouts erupt across the stadium; alas, no money was discovered.

However, after a few minutes of delay, the big balloons hoovering over the stadium burst as millions of dollars flew all over the stadium, setting the mob into a frantic motion. People end up injuring one another for the money, and the police intervene to stop the chaos. Several individuals get arrested and taken to the police station.

Episode 1 of No Way Out: The Roulette ends with another video from the masked vigilante, with the roulette table spinning once more for round 2. The roulette dice land on the name Kim Guk-ho. The mysterious masked man reveals the conditions of round 2 and announces a winning prize of $15 million.

The catch—to kill the criminal Guk-ho, who was imprisoned for r*ping a minor girl. Even if they’re caught, the money will be handed over, but if he kills himself, the money will be doubled in the next round.


No Way Out: The Roulette Episode 2 sees people hunting Guk-ho to win the $15 million

In No Way Out: The Roulette episode 2, people erupt in a huge commotion upon Guk-ho's release. Motivated not only by the bounty but also by the horrible acts he had perpetrated on several minor girls, people set out on a hunt to kill Guk-ho. Meanwhile, the police chief issues an arrest warrant to catch the masked vigilante.

A press release is issued stating that anybody attempting to assassinate or tamper with Guk-ho would face terrorism charges. Guk-ho is being held inside and is being guarded by the police. Still, people ignored the warning and prepared to kill him the moment he stepped out of the building.

On the day of Guk-ho's release, Joong-sik is tasked with escorting him out of the prison to a safe location. Meanwhile, Chang-jae attempts to steal Joong-sik's car to get his money back, but he gets caught and tries to run. Joong-sik ran to the parking lot and was relieved to see the suitcase safe. On the dashcam film, however, Chang-jae can be seen teasing him and attempting to enter.

Kim Guk-ho attempts to flee his home and make contact with Gwan-gil from his location. Meanwhile, Guk-ho walks into the convenience shop to get some snacks, Min-jin's mother just so happens to be there. She uses her harpoon cannon and attacks Guk-ho, but a policeman swoops in to save Guk-ho, taking the bullet in his place.

In No Way Out: The Roulette episode 2, Guk-ho hears Min-jin's mother tell him he deserves to die for his crimes as she gets taken to the police station. The episode ends with Min-jin's father discovering a bag outside his home that has a spiral symbol on it. He opens the bag and finds some money in it.


No Way Out: The Roulette episodes 3 and 4 will be released together on Wednesday, August 7, at 4pm (KST) on Disney Plus.
