Leah Remini has recently addressed rumors of a feud with Jennifer Lopez. In an exclusive interview with US Weekly published on June 4, 2025, the Second Act actress opened up about their current relationship status, following years of public speculation about whether the two stars had drifted apart.
“There’s no bad blood,” Remini told Us Weekly, confirming they reconnected after Lopez finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck and she, too, separated from husband Angelo Pagán. Both couples filed in 2024.
“Right after the divorce, we’d text each other loving messages of support,” Remini said.
While Lopez hasn’t directly commented, her absence from Remini’s wedding and Remini’s absence from Lopez’s 2022 nuptials have fueled online speculations. Now, Remini spoke about the rumors, saying that changing communication patterns don’t always mean feuds. She said,
“Friendships ebb and flow. Just because you’re in a different place doesn’t mean the love is gone.”
More about Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez's friendship

Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez became close in 2004 after meeting at an industry event. At the time, Lopez was dating Marc Anthony, with whom she later had twins Max and Emme. Over the years, the two women stayed close, sharing red carpets, Instagram posts, and even co-starring in the 2018 rom-com Second Act.
Remini’s absence from Jennifer Lopez’s 2022 wedding to Ben Affleck sparked rumors of a split. But Remini clarified she missed the ceremony because she was moving her daughter, Sofia, into college, and not because of any fallout. Speaking to US Weekly, Remini said,
“That doesn’t mean I don’t love her. I just had my priorities in that moment.”
Remini, 54, acknowledged that she and Lopez, 55, no longer speak every day, but that there are no hard feelings behind it.
“I have many friends that I don’t talk to every day. That doesn’t mean we’re at odds. I’m at a different place and so are they.”
The King of Queens star also spoke about how her life changed after leaving Scientology in 2013. Her decision to distance herself from the church and take time to heal also affected many of her friendships.
“I really retreated. I didn’t want to leave the house that much.”
Even so, she continues to value strong connections, saying,
“Not everybody is meant to be in your life in the way they were before. But that doesn’t mean the relationship is broken.”
While she’s no longer constantly photographed with Jennifer Lopez, Remini said she has a close support circle and that she catches up with Michelle Visage "on FaceTime every morning for an hour." She also stays connected with actress friends like Holly Robinson Peete, Tisha Campbell, and Chelsea Handler, and described her girlfriends as "a lifeline," especially in the face of her divorce from Angelo Pagan and her exit from Scientology.
“We have a group chat, Chelsea’s been in Sofia’s life since diapers. She’ll talk to her for hours and visit her in New York.”
Remini also added how "grounding" the friendship is.
“We go from crying to laughing in minutes. It’s grounding.”
Jennifer Lopez has not publicly commented on the rumors regarding her friendship with Leah Remini. In recent weeks, she has remained focused on a busy professional schedule. Over Memorial Day weekend, Lopez hosted and performed at the 2025 American Music Awards and announced her upcoming Las Vegas residency, Jennifer Lopez: Up All Night. She headlined the opening night of the World Pride Music Festival in Washington, D.C., on June 6, 2025.
Later this year, Jennifer Lopez will appear in the film adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring alongside Diego Luna and Tonatiuh. The musical, based on the Tony-winning Broadway production, is set to release on October 10, 2025.
